Ingredients

300g pork belly
500g rice noodle
2 pcs spring onion
1/2 pc lemon
1 pc shallot
3 pcs garlic
2 tsp seasoning powder
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp fish sauce
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 pc cucumber
15g peanut
100g pickled vegetable đồ chua

The great tasting, juicy barbecued pork belly and fresh rice noodle are enjoyed with Vietnamese’s signature fish sauce, making it irresistible to all food lovers.

Bún Thịt Nướng is so well known that you can easily find it in most Vietnamese restaurants locally and overseas. Good news is, this is a fairly simple dish to cook so anyone can try their hands at making Bún Thịt Nướng at home. With that said, let’s begin!

Preparation

Wash the pork belly and get rid of the skin. Chop into thin slices. Mince the garlic and shallots. Dice the spring onions and make the onion oil (mỡ hành) for use later.

Marinating

Add the meat into a bowl with 2 tsp seasoning powder, 1/2 tsp sugar, 1/2 tsp fish sauce, minced garlic and shallot then mix well to marinate.

After the meat has been marinated, place them on the grill plate and use a coal stove to start grilling. Alternatively, use an oven and heat at 180°C for 20 minutes. After the meat has been cooked, place them inside a bowl.

Serve

Arrange the rice noodle, cucumber, pickled vegetables, other raw vegetables / herbs and grilled meat into a bowl. Pour the onion oil in and sprinkle some peanuts on top. Serve with fish sauce.

Note: It will taste better to mix the fish sauce with water, sugar, minced garlic and chili.
